A new selectman and two new school committee members were elected in Foxborough's 2019 town election.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — With this year's town election uncontested, voter turnout was low at 5.5 percent. Still, the 665 people who did come out to vote elected new members to the Board of Selectmen, School Committee, and Library Trustees.
After a brief retirement in 2016, former Police Chief Edward O'Leary has returned to public service as a selectmen. O'Leary will serve Foxborough again after 31 years as the town's police chief. He received 598 of the town's 665 votes, according to unofficial results. Selectman Mark Elfman will also return for another term after receiving 542 votes. Recently retired selectman James DeVellis received five write-in votes.
The school committee welcomed two new members with Brent Reuter and Robert Canfield III running in the uncontested election. Incumbent Christopher Connolly orginally filed nomination papers, but did not return them with the required signatures. The town also welcomed new library trustee Katherine M.S. Udden.
