Foxborough Train Station Project Goes In Front Of MBTA Board Monday

The Town will go in front of the MBTA's Fiscal Management Control Board for a presentation on the proposed pilot Monday morning.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Town officials will make their case for the commuter rail pilot program Monday.

The project is on the agenda for the MBTA's Fiscal Management Control Board Meeting which is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. The presentation will be the same one Town Manager Bill Keegan, Town Planner Paige Duncan, and State Rep. Jay Barrows recently showed to the Mansfield Board of Selectmen.

The 11-month pilot program calls for full commuter rail service at the Gillette Stadium platform and would include six to eight daily trips.

If approved, the train would use the Fairmont Line to reach Boston. Once it hits the beginning of the line at Readville, the train would make normal stops across the line before reaching South Station.

The project, which needs FMBC approval, could start as early as 2018.
