Foxborough Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing $350,000 From Employer

Dorothea Bulger, 65, will have to turn over her pension to her former employer, Mayfair Realty & Development.

A former employee of Mayfair Realty & Development has pleaded guilty to stealing from the company.

Dorothea Bulger, 65, of Foxborough, was sentenced Thursday in Wrentham District Court to two years in a house of corrections. During those three years, she must pay $133,000 in restitution to Mayfair Reality through her pension plan worth about $80,000 and monthly payments of at least $65. She also has to write a letter of apology to Mayfair Realty, according to Norfolk District Attorney spokesman David Traub.

On March 1, 2013, missing money was discovered after irregular payment entries were discovered in the Mayfair Realty Database, specifically cash payments that were entered into the system wrong and never deposited. To cover up the missing money, records were manipulated to make it look like the rent money had been paid and deposited.

It was originally believed that Bulger took over $100,000, but the actual figure was $350,000.

Judge Emogene Johnson Smith accepted the plea bargain after Mayfair officials said they wanted to put the issue behind them. A previous judge rejected a plea bargain deal because he found it to be too lenient.
