Gillette Stadium Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

The Patriots honored breast cancer survivors prior to Sunday's 35-17 win over the Bengals at Gillette Stadium.

Prior to Sunday's 35-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kraft family and New England Patriots honored 150 breast cancer survivors and their loved ones during an emotional and inspiring pregame ceremony at Gillette Stadium.

The survivors and their loved ones wore pink t-shirts provided by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and formed a large breast cancer awareness ribbon at midfield prior to team introductions and the national anthem. Among those participating in the ceremony were Foxborough residents Patty Barry, Tricia Conlon, Lisa Heinricher, Patty Noonan, Angie Thorsell and Mary Valencia.

"This is great," said Noonan. "It's emotional, but it's a great experience and very important to raise awareness."

"It's very special to be able to do this," Valencia said. "I love being a part of this game and being surrounded by other breast cancer survivors."

"It's unbelievable," said Conlon. "I'm so grateful to be a part of this. People definitely need to regularly do screenings. They really need to follow through on that - it saves lives! See pink and think about it."

In addition to the 150 survivors, Foxborough native JoJo, whose grandmother is a breast cancer survivor and participated in the pregame ceremonies, sang the national anthem in a pink Patriots jersey. During the game, the entire stadium went pink with a card stunt to raise awareness (pictured above).
