Herald Leads Sports Page With Fake Tom Brady Story
A Boston Herald columnist reported Brady was threatening to hold out of team workouts unless he got a pay bump.

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Herald's back-page lead story about Tom Brady threatening to hold out of offseason team workouts unless he got a raise turned out to be a prank. A caller to sports radio station WEEI set up the Boston Herald's Ron Borges, who then claimed he had multiple sources confirming the news.
The story claimed Brady would skip team workouts unless he got a deal similar to the one Jimmy Garoppolo got with San Francisco Thursday. Borges thought his source was Don Yee, who is the agent for both Brady and Garoppolo. It ended up being "Nick in Boston," the caller said when he called WEEI's morning show. Nick posted screenshots of the text conversation he had with Borges. Borges in the story claimed multiple sources confirmed the news.
The Boston Herald pulled the story from its website Friday morning and later in the day said they were suspending Borges' column.

"A column by Ron Borges in today’s Herald regarding Patriot Tom Brady’s salary discussions was based on information which proved to be false," the company said in a statement.
This isn't the first time Borges has been in hot water. He left the Boston Globe in 2007 following a plagiarism scandal.
