Hundreds Help Hero Helpers Make Cupcakes For Troops
Hero Helpers held the annual event at Splitsville at Patriot Place on Sunday.
After three days of baking and a Sunday morning featuring hundreds of volunteers decorating cupcakes, local veterans will be receiving a tasty treat in the next few days.
Celebrating the sacrifice of American servicemen and women, the Mansfield-based Hero Helpers of America held their annual Cupcakes for Heroes event at Splitsville’s Patriot Place location to create and decorate cupcakes for those that have served their country.
“It’s a good way for the community to come together. It’s a small thing but a nice event to see so many people,” Hero Helpers founder and Foxborough native Lauren Eliopoulos said.

Hundreds of volunteers took part in the event where supporters helped decorate and frost cupcakes baked by the organization. In addition to cupcake decorating, those in attendance had a chance to donated a box of cupcakes to veterans, write cards to a soldiers overseas, and take part in free bowling.
Superheroes, costumed characters and members of the US Armed Services, were also on hand during the day.

According to Eliopoulos, 3,800 cupcakes were baked over three days by 30 volunteers before the event. The cupcakes will be distributed to local veterans and the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston.
