Hundreds Join Hero Helpers at Splitsville for Cupcakes for Veterans

The annual holiday event took place Sunday morning at Patriot Place

There were only but good intentions and the sweet smell of candy in the air Sunday morning when the Mansfield-based Hero Helpers held their third annual Cupcakes for Veterans event at Splitsville.

According to group founder and Foxborough native Lauren Eliopoulos, volunteers were lined up outside the venue about a half hour before the 10 a.m. open, with a packed crowd ready to frost cupcakes only minutes after the doors were unlocked.

Eliopoulos said the volunteers were able to frost and decorate all 3,600 cupcakes in about 90 minutes.

“I have no words,” the speechless Eliopoulos said after the event.

In addition to the cupcakes, there was also free bowling, face painting, card makings, and appearances from Pat Patriot and the New England Patriots cheerleaders.
