John Oates of 'Hall & Oates' at Showcase Live

'Mississippi Mile', Oates New CD Release

Grammy nominated artist and American songwriter hall of Fame member, John Oates, best known for his years as the other half of Hall & Oates will be performing on Friday, April 15th, at Showcase Live in Foxbourough, MA.

His newest recording as a solo artist, 'Mississippi Mile' (available on April 12th) brings Oates back to his roots and explores all of the musical influences such as Chuck Berry and Mississippi John Hurt, that have shaped him over the years as an artist, writer and musician.

'This album is about honoring the tradition of the song itself,' Oates explains. Many tracks on this album were recorded on the first take in the studio, with the exception of only two overdubs, giving the record a live album feel. It's a stripped down effort to showcase what the song was before it ever made it on the album and became a hit. It is as close to a live album as it gets.

The 12 tracks chronicle Oates musical inspirations from Curtis Mayfield 'It's Alright' to Allen Fraser's 'Dance Hall Girls' and even the Hall & Oates classic ' You Make My Dreams Come True'.The authentic roots sound of 'Deep River' was penned by Oates about the Nashville flood and pays homage to Doc Watson's 'Deep River Blues'.'Mississippi Mile', the album's title track is about the music that comes from the Delta. That geographic area has become the foundation of all American popular music, music that comes from the heart.
