Mansfield Man Charged with Stealing Foxborough Fire Hydrant

A Mansfield man accused of stealing a fire hydrant faces theft charges in Foxborough.
John Piche, 60, was arrested Monday night and charged with larceny over $250.
Police say the hydrant, located on Central Street, was damaged in a car crash. After the crash, it was dislodged and left on the ground in anticipations of repairs by the Foxborough Water Department.

Later that evening, Patrolman Patrick Hoffman was travelling on Central Street and observed a male party pick up the fire hydrant and place it in his vehicle. The officer stopped and spoke to Piche, who discovered that he was not authorized to have possession of the fire hydrant.
Piche was scheduled to be arraigned in Wrentham District Court Wednesday.
