Medical Marijuana Company Interested in Foxborough Dispensary

The company recently met with town officials to discuss the site for a proposed medical marijuana dispensary

A new medical marijuana dispensary could be coming to Foxborough in the near future.

During a recent selectmen meeting, Town Manager Bill Keegan informed the board that himself, Police Chief Edward O’Leary, and Building Commissioner Bill Casbarra recently met with a company named Beacon Wellness that represents a medical pot dispensing company interested in setting up shop on Route 1.

Part of a new round of licensing by the state, the proposed location is the former gas station located at 24 Washington Street across from McDonald’s and next to the Foxboro Terminals. Keegan said the group is well aware with the issues with the site, which is zoned for marijuana dispensaries.

Before the building can be construction, Keegan said the group must appear before the selectmen and pitch to the town. The board will then either give a favorable recommendation or a non-recommendation, stating that the zoning does allow for the use. but the town is not necessarily in favor of the use.

Afterward, the group would need to obtain approval from the state for the license before returning to the town to meet with the proper boards.
