Milford Board of Health to Host Shred-a-Thon
Residents are welcomed to bring boxes of personal documents to the Milford Transfer Facility this weekend for shredding.

This Saturday, the Milford Board of Health will hold a shred-a-thon from 9 a.m. to noon.

According to the board, roughly 7 million people become victims of identity theft every year. That equals 19,178 people per day, 799 per hours, and 13.3 per minute. The incidence of victimization soared 80% between 2002 and 2003, according to a study by Harris Interactive. A survey by the Identity Theft Resource Center indicates that victims now spend an average of 600 hours recovering from this crime, often over a period of years – up from 175 hours three years ago.
