New Group Aims to Improve Liquor Service in Foxborough

23 liquor license holders have reformed Foxcares to improve liquor license service around town.

After nine establishments were tagged with liquor license violations in a recent sting by the Foxborough Police Department, a group of license holders have decided to work together to prevent a similar result.

Selectman David Feldman told the selectmen at a recent meeting that local liquor license holders have reformed Foxcares, an organization for establishments that serve alcohol.

In February, a meeting of the group attracted 23 establishments, with an intent to go full tilt according to Feldman.

The group will perform self-compliance checks with a third party to make sure everyone is in compliance with liquor laws. If an establishment fails a check, it will be discussed at a future meeting.

Members also plan on discussing the latest trends in fake IDs, talking to Foxborough students about the dangers and consequences of drinking and fake IDs, and reaching out to parents.

“They are really embracing this. They want to be responsible servers and I’m really impressed with the commitment that all these people has shown,” Feldman said.

Feldman called the group one of the better things to come out of the recent liquor license hearings.
