Nine Businesses Fail Liquor License Compliance Check

Almost a third of Foxborough businesses with liquor licenses failed a compliance check performed by the Foxborough Police.

This year’s compliance check on establishments with liquor licenses provided a huge shock as nearly a third of the businesses checked failed the annual check.

Of the 29 businesses checked by the Foxborough Police Department last Thursday, nine served alcohol to a minor. Last year, three businesses failed the check.

“I am shocked and disappointed,” Foxborough Police Chief Ed O’Leary told the Sun Chronicle. “I know that a lot of effort has gone into training for the staff at these establishments. But the message is not getting down to the servers about precautions against serving minors.”

Prior to the operation, the establishments were notified that police would be performing a compliance check.

This year’s check consisted of a 19-year-old Stonehill College student entering the establishment under the watch of a police officer and asking for an alcoholic beverage. If the student was asked for his ID or age, he gave his genuine under-21 license or real age.
