Opheum Sale In Progress

Town Manager Bill Keegan said the agreement should be finalized at the end of next month.

FOXBORUGH, MA — The Orpheum is on the verge of having a new owner in the Foxboro Regional Center for the Performing Arts.

Former selectman and executive director of the Foxboro Regional Center for the Performing Arts Bob Hickey told the Sun Chronicle that the group has been reconstituted as a non-profit. The current owner, Bay Colony Productions, bought it from the group in 2004, although aside from the name, there is little connection to the original group.

At the July 11 selectmen meeting, Town Manager Bill Keegan said he has sent a letter of support to Jay Ash, the secretary of housing and economic development, for a grant to renovate the building. State Rep. Jay Barrows and Town Planner Paige Duncan have also expressed support for the grant.
