Patriot Place Outdoor Movie Series Continues Every Wednesday Night Through September

Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and head to the NRG Plaza at Patriot Place every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. through Sept. 6 to catch a free family-friendly movie outdoors in the shadow of Gillette Stadium.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Summer may be winding down but there’s still plenty of outdoor family fun to be had at Patriot Place, including the increasingly popular Outdoor Movie Series every Wednesday night on The NRG Plaza located outside of The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon.

Families are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the plaza for a free viewing of The Lorax at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Children arriving early can enjoy bounce houses on the plaza prior to show time from 5-7 p.m.

“We advertise a 7:30 p.m. movie start time so that folks have a chance to get settled into spots and the kids can run off some energy with our oversized games prior to the show,” said Patriot Place Marketing Manager Diana Griffin. “This also allows us to give the sun time to set and adjust our projector accordingly. Depending on your family, you may want to come earlier or later to get settled in. All of our restaurants offer excellent takeout options including CBS Scene, which has been hosting half price pizzas on Wednesdays.”

Griffin says the concept of an outdoor movie at Patriot Place had been discussed for a couple of summers before coming to fruition this June with the showing of Despicable Me.

“We originally planned this as a onetime thing during our Summer Sensation Kickoff but the response was so positive we decided we had to do this every week,” said Griffin.

Since its June 22 debut, Patriot Place has held outdoor viewings of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, UP, How to Train Your Dragon and The Sandlot.

The Outdoor Movie Series continues through Sept. 6 with showings of The Lorax (Aug. 14, 7:30 p.m.), RIO (Aug. 21, 7:30 p.m.), Hotel Transylvania (Aug. 28, 7:30 p.m.) and Night at the Museum (Sept. 6, 7:30 p.m.).

“Outdoor movies at Patriot Place make for a great date night, you can bring the kids, the grandkids, grab a bite to eat before or after the movie or takeout right to your picnic spot,” Griffin said. “The NRG Plaza is the perfect place to host this type of event because there is plenty of space for everyone’s blankets and chairs.”
