Patriots Donating $1 Million To Local Groups Fighting Racism

Patriots players chose organizations "that are fighting for equity, working to end systemic racism and creating meaningful changes."

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots announced the team will donate $1 million over the next 10 months to local grassroots organizations following the death of George Floyd, who died in the custody of Minneapolis police.

Through a video announcement, the Kraft family pledged to make the donations in $100,000 monthly increments.

The organizations were chosen by Patriots players "that are fighting for equity, working to end systemic racism and creating meaningful changes in our community," the video read.

"Change always begins with listening and learning, the video said. "These organization will be invited to speak to our executive staff and senior management across the Kraft Group businesses, so we can learn about their work and continue to grow in knowledge and awareness, especially among those in leadership positions. Our eyes, ears and heart are open."
