After Counterfeit Ticket Arrests, Patriots Warn Fans to Look Out for Fakes

The warning comes on the heels of an arrest for selling counterfeit tickets.

If you see a deal for tickets to Sunday’s game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts that looks too good to be true, there’s a solid chance that it is.

After police arrested four people from New York in Somerville for allegedly selling counterfeit tickets for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game on CraigsList, the New England Patriots are warning fans to watch out for the fake tickets from unauthorized ticket sites.

On Thursday, Somerville police received a call from Billerica police after a Billerica resident reported that he bought fake AFC Championship Game tickets on CraigsList. This transaction had taken place at the Holiday Inn, Somerville, earlier in the day according to police. He had paid $900 for the four counterfeit tickets.

Somerville Police Detective Sergeant Warren Chaille and Detective Paul Duffy conducted an investigation that led to the arrests of Jatquan Hyman, 20, Jarrell Inge, 26, and Jose Lopez, 22 and a juvenile and the seizure of additional counterfeit tickets and thousands of dollars in cash.

The individuals identified below were charged in Somerville District Court with larceny Over $250. and attempting to commit a crime. They are currently held on bail at the Billerica House of Correction.

The four individuals were allegedly selling the fake tickets in the Saugus, Billerica and Somerville areas before the arrest.

“We are cautioning fans in the greater Boston area to beware of secondary market purchases of Patriots tickets for this weekend’s game. The only verified sellers of Patriots tickets are the Patriots Ticket Office and Ticketmaster,” the Patriots said in a release.

The Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts will kickoff Sunday’s game at Gillette Stadium at 6:40 p.m. The stadium parking lots will be open four hours before the start of the game. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m.
