FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots will raise ticket prices for the 2023 season, the first time the team has done so since 2008, according to a WCVB-5 report. A message about renewals was sent to all season ticket holders Wednesday.

The message did not reveal how much ticket prices will increase, but one season ticket holder said he will be paying about $500 more.

The Patriots will play nine home games in the upcoming season. One of those will be played in Germany, though the NFL has not revealed the date, time, or opponent for that game.

The ticket price hike comes as Gillette Stadium undergoes a major overhaul. Construction began in 2022 and includes a new Enel Plaza leading into the stadium, a new lighthouse, a new high-definition video board, the addition of hospitality and function spaces, new and improved concession locations, and other fan amenities, according to a statement.

The renovations will cost a total of $300 million and are expected to be completed prior to the 2023 season. One notable feature is the new lighthouse, which will be 218 feet tall with a 360-degree observation deck that will be accessible to visitors year-round. There will also be 50,000 square feet dedicated to hospitality and function spaces.

Earlier this week it was announced that the vacant lot next to Bed, Bath & Beyond in Patriot Place will become a Hobby Lobby arts and crafts store. Adjacent to Gillette Stadium, Patriot Place features more than 1.3 million square feet of shopping, dining, and entertainment with retailers including Victoria’s Secret, Vineyard Vines, Trader Joe’s, CVS, Christmas Tree Shops and Bass Pro Shops.
