Patriots' Chandler Jones Went to Foxborough Public Safety Building for Medical Help

Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones was described as confused when he went to the building Sunday morning seeking medical assistance.

Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones was taken to Norwood Hospital Sunday morning after seeking medical help at the Foxborough Public Safety building.

At about 7:42 a.m., Jones arrived at the station with a medical emergency, according to dispatch records obtained by the Boston Herald. He was evaluated by fire and emergency medical officials before being transported to Norwood Hospital just after 8 a.m.

Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary denied knowing why Jones was at the station and any police involvement, but dispatch records said at least five officers were in the back parking lot where Jones was being evaluated. Another was dispatched to Jones’ nearby home.

In dispatch audio from the incident, an officer can be heard going into Jones’ home to grab his keys.

“I got his keys off the kitchen table to lock the front door. I was able to lock the front door. If you want to just pass along to the fire, he was definitely involved with Class D delta before this happened, just so they know,” the officer said over the radio.

A Class D drug is often considered to be marijuana.

When asked about his initial denial of police involvement, O’Leary told the Herald that he considered the incident to be of a medical nature, not police. A police report does not exist for the incident since the department only fills out paperwork for medical calls with a fatality, according to O’Leary.

When asked about a portion of the record that was modified, O’Leary said it was protected information on a medical condition.

Jones was released from the hospital Sunday and has been at all team meetings and practices this week, according to the Patriots.

A fourth-year player for the Patriots, Jones recorded 44 tackles and 12.5 sacks in 15 games this season. Prior to being drafted by New England in 2012, the Rochester, NY, native played college football at Syracuse.
