Patriots Tight End Martellus Bennett Reads to Local Families at Patriot Place

The Patriots tight end and children's book author read his book, "Hey A.J. It's Saturday" to families at Patriot Place on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Local families who attended Patriot Place’s weekly Tuesday morning Storytime event on Dec. 20 were treated to a very special guest as New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett surprised the crowd gathered inside The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon’s theater to read his children’s book, “Hey A.J. It’s Saturday.” Among those in the audience were more than 20 families from the Foxborough, Franklin and North Attleboro branches of the Hockomock Area YMCA.

“What an exciting opportunity for children and parents of our YMCA to visit the Patriots Hall of Fame and to hear from a children’s book author who also happens to be a New England Patriots football player,” said Hockomock Area YMCA President Ed Hurley. “It’s not often you find somebody as engaging, charismatic and creatively gifted as Martellus Bennett. He was a great storyteller, really engaged the kids during his reading and it was a real treat for these families to spend some time with him. We are so grateful to the New England Patriots and Patriots Charitable Foundation for inviting the Hockomock YMCA to be a part of this wonderful event.”

Following the reading, Bennett signed copies of his book in the Patriots ProShop. Patriot Place’s weekly Storytime is held on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. in Showcase Cinema de Lux. The free event features a reading of a children’s book followed by a special guest appearance from a popular storybook character.
