The End of an Era: Foxborough Police Chief Ed O'Leary Enters Retirement
The longtime police chief's last day is Friday.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — When Police Chief Ed O'Leary leaves the Foxborough Pubic Safety building Friday, he will do so for the last time as the town's police chief.
Friday is the chief's final day after 31 years as the head of the Foxborough Police Department. A Foxborough native, O'Leary became the chief in 1985 and oversaw the change that has come to town, ranging from the expansion of the police department and their new headquarters to the transformation of the home of the Patriots from Foxboro Stadium and a race track to Gillette Stadium and the shopping center known as Patriot Place.
To celebrate the milestone, the selectmen will hold a final salute to O'Leary at the Public Safety Building at 2:30 p.m. A retirement party will be held on Oct. 20 at Lakeview Pavilion.
