Plainridge Park Casino Holds Grand Opening

The state's first casino will open their doors to customers Wednesday.

The first casino in Massachusetts is now open for business.

Plainridge Park Casino held a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday morning and will open their doors to customers at 1 p.m. according to WHDH.

The slots parlor will feature over 1,200 machines, harness racing, and a sports bar from former Boston College and New England Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie.

Plainridge was awarded the state’s lone slots license in Feb. 2014, beating out competition from Raynham and Leominster.

More competition could be coming to the area in the future. Recently voters in Brockton gave their approval to a casino at the Brockton Fairgrounds on Route 123.
