Play Ball! Partners in Patriotism Fund Helps Foxboro Rec Build Dugouts

The Friends of Foxboro Rec received a $5,000 donation from the Partners in Patriotism Fund to build two dugouts at the Payson Road Complex.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – A partnership between the Partners in Patriotism Fund, Friends of Foxboro Recreation and Foxboro Youth Baseball and Softball hit a home run with the construction of two dugouts at the Babe Ruth Field of the Payson Road Recreational Complex.

“We are so appreciative of the support we received from the Partners in Patriotism Fund, Friends of Foxboro Recreation and Foxboro Youth Baseball and Softball,” said Foxboro Recreation Director Debbie Giardino. “These dugouts will be of great use to players and coaches and helps the Recreation Department continue its goal of building and maintaining beautiful fields and facilities for the town to enjoy.”

The Partners in Patriotism Fund contributed $5,000 to the project because of its benefit to youth athletics in Foxboro.

“These dugouts will be used seven days a week from April through October by upwards of 150 baseball players, ages 13-18,” said Partners in Patriotism Fund Chair Jimmy McGowan. “We are thrilled to contribute to this project as these dugouts will improve the experience for baseball players in Foxboro.”

Giardino added that the dugouts will make the Babe Ruth Field a more attractive option for other leagues looking for a field to rent.

“We do get requests from other leagues to use the field when the Foxboro groups are not on it,” said Giardino. “Being able to attract other leagues to this field generates a source of revenue for the Recreation Department.”

The Babe Ruth Field is the only baseball complex in town with lights. The field was built at no cost to Foxborough through mitigation money from the Chestnut Green project and is 12 years old.
