Police Take Under 200 into Custody at Chesney Show

The number was the lowest since Kenny Chesney switched to a two-day format for his Gillette Stadium show.

Editor’s Note: The charges against two individuals have been removed.

Kenny Chesney may have returned to Foxborough last weekend, but the rowdy crowds and large amounts of people taken into custody seem to be decreasing.

During the two shows that saw over 105,000 fans come to Foxborough to see Chesney, Jason Aldean, and other country artists, police took 194 people into custody during the two-day show, 95 on the first day and 99 on the second day according to the Foxborough Police Log.

Of those custodies, 24 were arrested on the first night and 28 on the second.

The total is the lowest for a two-day country concert at Gillette Stadium featuring Chesney, which switched the format of concert formerly known as the New England Country Festival from an all-day show to a pair of concerts over a weekend in 2011.

The number of custodies continues to drop from the 2012 high of 601. In 2013, the total decreased to 268. While Chesney did not perform at Gillette Stadium in 2014, a one-day stop by Luke Bryan resulted in 192 custodies.

During the show, tailgating was limited to certain hours. After the parking lots opened at 1 p.m., concertgoers were told to either enter the show or leave at 6 p.m. Post-event tailgating was also not allowed.
