R.I. Man Sold Fake Sports Merchandise at Show: Police

Richard Rufo was also arrested on various drug charges.

MANSFIELD, MA - A man who allegedly sold counterfeit merchandise at a hotel near the Foxborough-Mansfield line has been arrested by the Mansfield Police Department.

Richard Rufo, 46, was arrested at the Mansfield-Foxboro Holiday Inn where he was attempting to sell counterfeit merchandise at a sports memorabilia show according to police. In addition to the counterfeiting charge, he also faces various drug charges.

During a search of Rufo’s van, police found and seized Oxycodone and Suboxone pills, a 1 1/2oz bag of Marijuana and $760 in cash as well as numerous other counterfeit items and apparel. During the execution of a search warrant in Smithfield, R.I., by Rhode island State Police and Mansfield Police, a sizeable amount of counterfeit merchandise was seized.

Rufo was released on $750 bail at his arraignment.
