School Committee Names New Assistant Superintendent
Monday night, the school committee voted to name Foxborough K-8 Math/Science Director Alison Mello the new assistant superintendent.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — With Foxborough Assistant Superintendent Amy Berdos moving to the superintendent position at the end of the year, a search committee has found the person who will take her current position.
Monday night, the school committee voted to name Foxborough K-8 Math/Science Director Alison Mello the new assistant superintendent. Mello beat out 48 other applicants.
Mello started in Foxborough as a math specialist in 2007 and has been in her current position since 2009. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and education from Rhode Island College, a master's degree in education from Bridgewater State University, and is a candidate for a doctoral degree in educational, instructional, and curriculum supervision from Johnson and Wales University.

"She's an extraordinary educator. She has worked tirelessly with teachers, students, and administrators in this district," Berdos said. "She's a go-to person, she's well respected, knowledgeable, and has the personality to pull people together and get things done."
School committee member Marylin Weiss called Mello someone who is innovative and thinks outside the box.

The leadership shuffle was triggered during the summer when Superintendent Debra Spinelli announced her intent to retire on Dec. 31. Berdos was quickly appointed to superintendent.
