Selectmen Vote to Fund Former Fire Station/Funeral Home Study
The board voted to allow Town Planner Paige Duncan to spend $7,500 on a yield study to determine what can go on the site.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The town will conduct a study for the former fire station and Keating Funeral Home
Last week, the board voted 3-2 to allow Town Planner Paige Duncan to spend $7,500 on a yield study to determine what can go on the site. Selectmen Jim DeVellis and Chris Mitchell voted against the proposal.
“We want to know what we can put out there and put out layouts for the property. It’s just something we feel we need to do with the next step,” Duncan told the board.

Last June, Duncan requested the funds for the study but the board wanted to meet with the Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners to discuss the state of sewer in the area. That meeting has not happened.
DeVellis said he wanted to figure out that component before moving forward.

“If we can’t work with water and sewer, you’re going to spend $7,500 and not get any answers.
To keep going on with this things without an understanding of sewer, I don’t want to spend another dime,” DeVellis said.
Town Manager Bill Keegan said the study would take away some uncertainty for developers.
Mark Elfman, David Feldman, and Ginny Coppola voted for the funds for the study.
