Selectmen to Meet New Police Chief Candidate Later This Month

A finalist will be presented to the board at their Aug. 23 meeting.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Foxborough could have their next police chief by the end of the month.

At Tuesday's selectmen meeting, Town Manager Bill Keegan told the board that the process is on schedule. The last four candidates will take part in an assessment center, with a final candidate chosen by Keegan to be presented to the board at their Aug. 23 meeting.

The selectmen will have the opportunity to ask the finalist questions before voting on whether or not the person should become the next chief of police. An endorsement from the selectmen is needed for the town to hire a new chief. If the board does not approve of the choice, Keegan will have to pick another semi-finalists.

The name of the last four candidates or any of the applicants have not been publicly announced. Keegan said he will not release the name the candidate he chooses until the meeting.

Longtime Police Chief Edward O'Leary's last day is Sept. 30.
