Senior Privileges Coming Back to Foxborough High School
Seniors will be able to arrive late or leave early if they have a study hall to start or end the game.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Seniors looking for an extra hour of sleep or a chance to leave school early will be able to do so, as long as they have a study to start or end the day.
The Foxborough School Committee last week approved the return of senior privileges to Foxborough High School. Under the new plan, any senior in good academic standing will be able to arrive at school by the end of first period or at the start of the last period of the day, if the period is a study hall. Parent permission will be needed before a student can take advantage of their privileges.
“We think that independence is a big thing in the school. Almost everyone in the school is going off to do something after school. You have to be a very independent and work on your own,” Foxborough High School senior Colin Spinney, who helped craft the policy, told the committee.

The privileges would help students who are up late doing homework or need to leave early for work or a doctor’s appointment, Spinney said.
Committee Chairperson Tina Belanger said the program was similar to one that allowed her to leave school early for work when she was a senior at Foxborough High School.

“In general, we were very excited about this. The students came up with several proposals and this one was one we felt we could wrap our minds around,” Foxborough High School Principal Diana Myers-Pachla said.
The academic standard used for senior privileges will be the same one used for athletics - two Fs and you lose the ability to use the privileges.
The privileges will likely go into effect after the February break and the creation of the permission slip.
