South Park Takes on Tom Brady, Deflategate in Season Premier

The star Patriots quarterback was Eric Cartman's inspiration during the show's 19th season premier.

South Park is back and that means no one who is newsworthy is safe.

During the season premiere Wednesday night, the show took aim at Tom Brady with Eric Cartman taking actions inspired by the man who he calls his hero.

After getting four days of detention, Cartman says he is going to “Tom Brady” the situation by demanding that he get only a day of detention before demanding no days through denying and subverting.

Later in the episode, the character has a dream sequence that more or less summarizes eight months of talking points, debates, and back and forth that made up the most discussed football topic of the year. In the dream, Carman plays Brady and Roger Goodell as the two argue over who broke the rules, who broke the rules in enforcing the rules, and who made up new rules that broke the rules.

This isn’t the first time the show has satirized the Patriots. In 2008, Cartman used Bill Belichick and Spygate to inspire a classroom of underprivileged city students to cheat their way to success and in 2012 Brady was depicted defecated during a game after a mailing mishap resulted in the quarterback receiving laxatives rather than hormones.
