Steelers Coach Accused of Assaulting Patriots Fan During Season Opener

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that James Daniel is being investigated for allegedly assaulting a fan at Gillette Stadium Thursday night.

Pittsburgh Steelers tight ends coach James Daniel is now under investigation by NFL security for allegedly assaulting a Patriots fan during Thursday’s game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Daniel assaulted the fan on his way to the locker room before halftime. The coach was seen allegedly kicking a fan in the back of the leg and yelling at him. Upon returning to the coaching booth, police and NFL security were waiting for him and warned him about his behavior, before Daniel began shouting at the officer, according to witnesses.

A league official confirmed that the NFL is aware of the incident and is investigating the matter.
