Taunton Man Arraigned in Alleged Foxborough Hockey Rink Assault

William C. Kenney III, age 46, of Reed Street in Taunton, was charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

A Taunton man accused of assaulting a referee after a high school hockey game in Foxborough was arranged in Wrentham District Court on Thursday morning.

William C. Kenney III, age 46, of Reed Street in Taunton, pled not guilty to assault and battery and disorderly conduct in Wrentham District Court on January 15, 2015. The alleged incident took place at the Foxboro Sports Center following a hockey game between Taunton High School and King Philip High School.

According to the Foxborough Police Lieutenant that made the arrest after the game, Kenney, who is on the Taunton coaching staff, allegedly became physical with a man who refereed the game between the two teams.

In addition, Kenney has been ordered to stay away from all youth sporting events and have no contact with the high school hockey referee he allegedly assaulted according to the district attorney’s office.

Kenney was released on personal recognizance, but given statutory bail warnings that if he is re-arrested or violates the judge’s orders, he can be ordered held without bail for up to 60 days. He is due back on court for a pre-trial conference on March 18.
