Thousands Celebrate 4th of July with Racing and Fireworks at Gillette Stadium

In its sixth year, the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 and fireworks has become a tradition at Gillette Stadium.

This year, nearly 5,000 runners participated in the 5K and 10K, which was followed up by a 20-minute firework spectacular over Route 1.

In the 5K, Cody Gibney of New Bedford set a new course record with a time of 16:51. James Sullivan of Medfield and Michael Vaz of Dartmouth came in second and third.

Seann Mulcahy of Providence, R.I. won the 10K, crossing midfield at 36:55.
