Tom Brady is prepared to meet with other teams for the first time in his career, according to a report. The quarterback is looking ahead to free agency ready to talk about continuing his career somewhere other than New England, sources told CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

"Brady intends to take a methodical approach to his first foray into free agency, as, at age 42, this will be the final contract of his playing career," La Canfora writes. "Brady and his team will weigh all options available to determine which opportunity provides the best chance to continue competing for the Lombardi Trophy and to see what other organizations think of him at this late stage in his career."

The news could be Brady's camp putting pressure on the Patriots to drum up a rich offer for their quarterback of two decades — or it could be an earnest desire by Brady to be pursued and find out his worth on the open market.

La Confora also said Brady is "eager to take on the role of mentor to a young quarterback, no matter where he plays, hoping to leave any organization in good shape when he retires. Part of his legacy, he believes, could be tied to seeing future generations embrace the TB12 training and lifestyle regimen that Brady strongly believes has helped him play so long at such a high level."

Brady becomes a free agent March 18. He could work out a contract with New England beforehand, but all recent signs point to him making it to free agency.
