Town Hall, Liquor License Proposal Expected for Town Meeting
A Special Town Meeting has been scheduled for Feb. 23.

The new town hall will be the big issue again when Foxborough holds a Special Town Meeting next year.
Usually scheduled for the fall, the meeting was pushed to Feb. 23 to better accommodate the issue.
According to Chairman Jim DeVellis, the proposed article would allow the town to get prices and come back with a direction for the proposed new building.

Other topics on the draft include a home rule petition to clarify and expand the definition of who is a mandatory reporter for child abuse and a petition to expand the number of liquor licenses.
According to Selectman Ginny Coppola, the Economic Development Committee is working on the liquor license issue and expects the group to complete their work in time for the town meeting. The licenses, if approved by town meeting and granted by the state, will likely be zoned to specific areas of town.

With 11 proposed articles, the warrant is expected to be closed soon, on the advice of Town Manager Bill Keegan.
“To be honest it should have been done already,” DeVellis said at a recent selectmen meeting.
DeVellis added that he wanted to post a notice before closing the warrant and will do so, likely for the board’s next meeting.
