WATCH: Patriots James White and Brandon Bolden Surprise Foxborough Students
The kids were expecting an assembly on perseverance but the two special speakers came as a surprise.
FOXBOROUGH, MA - Students in all five Foxborough schools thought they were going to an assembly on perseverance Wednesday. Indeed that was the topic, but what they didn’t expect was who the guest speakers were going to be. Once “Crazy Train” hit, many students started to catch on that some employees from One Patriot Place were nearby.
Indeed, that is what happened for the high school, middle school, and three elementary school students, as treated to a surprise appearance from Brandon Bolden and James White of the New England Patriots. With the team’s fifth Vince Lombardi trophy in tow, the players reflected on their unprecedented comeback at Super Bowl LI and how students can use the lessons learned from it in their lives.
“That's a perfect example of not giving up. That's something you can apply to your lives,” White told the students at each stop. “No matter how hard you think a class may be, continue to work and you’ll get through it.”

Students at all the schools greeted the players with excitement but none were more enthused than the Ahern Middle School, where students reaching for the trophy showed shades of the fandom usually seen at games rather than a school assembly.
"They might have topped that. They were charging us and everything, it’s pretty similar actually," White said.

Students also took part in a touchdown celebration contest, where the best dancers received a signed football from the two Patriots.
For Bolden and White, the reaction was familiar but not one they've become complacent with.
"It's kind of great, it's a feeling you don't ever get used to no matter how long you’ve been doing it. Even from kids to adults it's the same reaction, it's just priceless," Bolden said.
The event was similar to the Rob Gronkowski's tour of the schools following Super Bowl XLIX win against the Seattle Seahawks
