Woman Saved by Vince Wilfork was Allegedly Over Double Legal Alcohol Limit

Mary Ellen Brooks, 38, of Hanson was arraigned on Tuesday charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and driving to endanger.

The woman saved by New England Patriots Vince Wilfork and the Massachusetts State Police after her car went off the road was allegedly drunk driving.

Mary Ellen Brooks, 38, of Hanson was arraigned on Tuesday in Wrentham District Court and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and driving to endanger.

Her blood alcohol content level at the time of the crash was allegedly 0.17 according to NECN. The legal limit in Massachusetts is 0.08.

At 12:45 a.m. early Monday morning, troopers responded to reports of a vehicle rolled over on Route 1 in Foxborough. When police arrived on the scene, they found Brooks trapped in a vehicle on its side and Wilfork checking on the driver.

As an officer held the doors of the vehicle open, Wilfork helped remove the Brooks out of the vehicle with one hand.

Earlier in the evening, Brooks attended the Patriots’ AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. After the crash, she told police she had four beers before the game, three during the game and two after the game according to the Sun Chronicle.

Brooks is free on her own recognizance and is due back in court on March 19 for a pretrial hearing.
