5 More Framingham Coronavirus Deaths, 58 New Cases

Twenty-six Framingham residents have now died over the course of the coronavirus pandemic.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — For the fourth day in a row, Framingham reported fatalities linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

Five more deaths were reported on Thursday bringing the pandemic total to 26. Framingham also confirmed 58 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total so far 838. Of that total, 614 are active cases, according to city officials.

As of Thursday, 58 people were being treated for coronavirus at Framingham Union Hospital, and 22 were in intensive care, according to state figures. That's an increase of 7 ICU patients compared to Wednesday.

Framingham officials and local mental health professionals are planning an online forum Tuesday for residents who might need to talk to someone. The event will feature representatives from Advocates, Wayside-MetroWest Community Services, and the Justice Resource Institute.

"It is vital to be able to talk about the changes and develop strategies to help manage the situation," Mayor Yvonne Spicer said in a press release.
