5 Things You Missed at the Keefe Tech School Committee
Candy Albertian has been hired as Director of Education Program Development at Keefe Technical School.

The Keefe Technical School Committee met Monday night. Besides the below is a wrap-up of five others things discussed or acted upon:
1. The School Committee voted on an attempt by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Army Corp of Engineers to test ground water under the schools property.
Superintendent James Lynch said the EPA wants to drill wells on the Winter Street side of the school so they can monitor the flow from ground water.
The motion passed unanimously.
2. Lynch commented on the
“It was a very thorough search,” Superintendent Lynch said. “It was a very important search for the district, community, teachers and administrators.”
Lynch said the search consisted of 14 potential candidates.
“The search committee – made up of eight people from the community-- originally interviewed five. They recommended four. I interviewed all four and made my decision.” Lynch added the process created an atmosphere of competition for the principal position.

3. The School Committee voted to hire Boston Chimney to repair its inefficient stack. According to the Committee, the school's stack is in disrepair and needs to be fixed at some point during the summer. It would take 12 days for the stack to be repaired. The Committee decided to hold off the final decision until more information was gathered. They voted 6-2 on approving the repair, dependent upon further investigation and research.
4. The School Committee announced Candy Albertian as Director of Education Program Development. “What I’m doing with this position is preparing the district to expand,” Lynch said. “In my first three years as superintendent we have been cutting the budget. Now we’ve been operating fiscally responsible and we also have an agenda to build the school community.”

5. The School Committee accepted the resignation of math teacher Timothy McDonald effective June 24. McDonald is moving on to a position within the district, at Natick High.
