5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: October 10
Rotary Carnival, Chef movie, Framingham Magic soccer, 200th victory, and Framingham employee honored all featured in today's column

1. The Rotary Club of Framingham Carnival opens tonight, Oct. 10 at 6 at the Pinefield Plaza in Saxonville. Carnival proceeds will be used to benefit local community services. The carnival will be open Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. and Columbus Day from noon to 5 p.m.
2. The Natick Columbus Soccer Tournament starts today. The Framingham Magic, a boys U12 team, will play under the lights at Natick High at 8:15. Go cheer on the Flyers.
3. In Case You Missed It: Framingham State University head volleyball coach Dick Casali reached the 200 win plateau for his career as the volleyball team defeated Suffolk University 3-0 Thursday evening, in non-conference action at the Athletic Center in Framingham.
Casali has been the most successful Framingham State University volleyball coach to date. He has been at the helm of the program for 11 seasons with an overall record of 200-137. He is just the second coach of any program to reach 200 victories with the Rams.
4. The main Framingham Library will hold a free screening of the movie Chef tonight at 7.

In the R-rated movie, a chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck, in order to reclaim his creative promise. The movie stars Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. Enter on the Lexington Street side between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m., as the library closes at 5 tonight.
5. Framingham resident Bob Fintonis recently celebrated his 40-year anniversary, as an employee of the Framingham Public Works Department. This week, he was awarded the coveted “Master Road Scholar” degree. He is the only member of the Framingham DPW to achieve this important distinction.
