AAA: Gas Prices in Massachusetts Down, But 4 Cents Higher Than National Average

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was 15 cents higher at $3.58.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down two cents from last week, according to AAA Southern New England, which has an office in Framingham, off Route 9.

AAA’s Sept. 15 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.43 per gallon, down two cents from last week.

Prices locally are four cents lower than a month ago.

The current price is four cents more than the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.39.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was 15 cents higher at $3.58.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 53 cents, from a low of $3.26 to a high of $3.79. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every trip, every time.

AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Spark plugs must be in good condition. Some will last for 100,000 miles, but may need to be replaced more often.
