Weather forecast:
1. Work on New $174 Million Framingham Regional Justice Center to Begin in May (correctionalnews.com) — Downtown Framingham is about to see years of construction as a new $174 million Regional Justice Center replaces the existing courthouse and consolidates several courts at the former Danforth Museum site on Union Avenue. Work is slated to start May 4 with fencing, hazardous-materials removal, and demolition, bringing noise, traffic, and long-term changes near the library through the project’s expected completion in spring 2029.
2. Having more kids associated with reduced risk of stroke and brain damage, research co-led by UT Health San Antonio shows (uthscsa.edu) — Framingham residents continue to play a key role in major health research, as new findings from the long-running Framingham Heart Study suggest women with three or more live births may face a lower risk of stroke and certain brain injuries. Researchers tracked nearly 1,900 women over about 18 years, linking higher numbers of live births with fewer strokes and MRI signs of vascular brain damage, while other reproductive factors showed no clear effect.
3. After lawsuit, Northwestern DA's office releases Brady records naming officers (recorder.com) — A Framingham resident’s long-running public records fight just forced the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office to release decades of misconduct-related “Brady” records on police and other employees. The case, decided in Suffolk Superior Court, highlights how slowly such information can emerge and raises broader questions about transparency in Massachusetts law enforcement that could affect how misconduct is disclosed statewide.
4. Boston Marathon: John Korir, Sharon Lokedi successfully defend titles (upi.com) — Framingham got its annual moment on the world stage Monday as elite runners powered through town on their way to record-setting wins at the 2026 Boston Marathon. Kenyans John Korir and Sharon Lokedi both defended their titles in course-record times, while American athletes also posted standout performances on the historic route from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.
