Sonographers are professionals who produce and evaluate ultrasound images of internal body structures to help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions.

“We know that skilled medical professionals are in high demand in MetroWest, and this program will train health care workers who will make an immediate impact,” said MassBay President David Podell.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average starting salary last month for diagnostic medical sonographers in Massachusetts was nearly $95,000. Massachusetts employment in the field was projected to grow 23 percent from 2020 to 2030, with hundreds of jobs available now.

Students can enroll now for classes that begin Sept. 8, 2026. More details will be available at upcoming information sessions.

MassBay Community College has about 4,500 full- and part-time students at its campuses in Ashland, Framingham and Wellesley.
