Summer Produce Project @ FSU combatted student food insecurity this summer.

For the past 15 weeks, ending 8/26/2024, parishioners of First Parish Framingham delivered fresh fruits and vegetables to the FSU Ram's Resource Center.

Are you aware that there are students at Framingham State University who are food insecure? During the school year students have access to meals through cafeteria services. Unfortunately, during the summer break, these food services are unavailable and students have a difficult time finding healthy food choices.

For the 3rd summer, First Parish teamed up with the FSU Ram Resource Center to coordinate the delivery of fresh summer produce for students living on campus during this past summer. Greater Framingham Community Church, Edwards Church and Framingham Centre 7th Day Adventist Church were also reliable partners in the effort.

From Kianna Bauer, Ram Resource Center Coordinator: "Through this partnership, for students needing to remain on campus over the summer, the Farm Stand is their only reliable source of fresh fruits and vegetables, filling the gap by providing fresh produce, giving students access to nutritious foods that support their health, well-being, and academic success. We are deeply grateful to FPF and our community partners for their generosity and commitment to supporting our students. Their partnership has expanded access to healthy food and strengthened our shared commitment to ensuring that every Framingham State student has the resources they need to succeed."
