FBA Welcomes FBA's David Halbert as September Guest Speaker

The Framingham Business Association (FBA) will reconvene after its summer hiatus on Wednesday, September 9 at noon at La Cantina, 911 Waverly Street, welcoming David Halbert, the first Director of External Affairs at Framingham State University, as its guest speaker.

Halbert serves as the primary point of connection between the University and the surrounding community. A Framingham native who grew up just down the street from campus, he brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Executive Director at Bay State Progress, Outreach Manager for The Educational Justice Institute at MIT, and Deputy Director of Community Affairs for the Middlesex Sheriff's Office. He holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Northeastern University and is an alumnus of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

At the meeting, Halbert will discuss the many ways local businesses can partner with Framingham State University, including internships, job opportunities, and programs designed to connect students with the local business community. Business owners looking to build their talent pipeline or deepen their ties to the University are encouraged to attend and come ready with questions.

The FBA also encourages members and the broader community to attend the Downtown Business Expo, presented by Downtown Framingham, Inc. The 3rd Annual Framingham Business Trade Show takes place Saturday, September 19 from 1PM to 6PM at 110 Union Ave and Pearl Street, with a rain date of September 26. Entry is free and open to the public. Last year's expo brought together more than 80 vendors, food trucks, and local restaurants, along with local bands, for a day of connection, collaboration, food, music, and entertainment. Attendees can expect live music and performances, seminars and workshops, food trucks, a beer garden, a kids zone, and more.

Both events are open to everyone. "We welcome all, and all voices are welcome here," said FBA President Francis Moura.

The Framingham Business Association is committed to promoting and supporting our local small businesses in Framingham. They are a group of local business owners, non-profit leaders, community and elected leaders.
