Originally from Minas Gerais Brazil, Fernando built a successful career in Massachusetts. In 2001, he founded Income Tax Plus, becoming a trusted resource for families, immigrants, and small businesses across Massachusetts. His commitment to immigrants is deeply personal; Fernando was a longtime student of Framingham's ESL program and has remained one of its strongest supporters, helping others access the same opportunities that helped shape his own journey.

Since 2018, Castro has served on the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Services of Metrowest and is actively involved in Freemasonry through multiple lodges, embracing its tradition of fellowship and charitable service. That same year Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers awarded Fernando the Alva Lima Outstanding Business Award which honors businesses that, through their own activities and support have made the lives of Portuguese speaking communities easier.

The 2026 Latino Excellence on the Hill event is an annual event hosted by the Massachusetts Black & Latino Legislative Caucus to commemorate Latino community leaders and trailblazers who are moving the needle forward in communities across Massachusetts.
