Another Double-Digit Rise In Framingham Coronavirus Cases
Framingham has added 25 new cases since Friday, and the number of active cases is closing in on 100.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Ten Framingham residents have tested positive for coronavirus since Monday, one of the highest increases in more than a month, health officials said on Wednesday.
On top of 10 new cases, Framingham added one new death. The number of active cases rose to 95, up from 85 active cases reported on Monday.
Framingham slowed down its coronavirus reporting beginning in mid-June, releasing new data about once every three days as opposed to daily. Since the beginning of July, Framingham has not reported a double-digit case increase over a Monday to Wednesday reporting period.

Here's how cases have progressed in July so far:
- July 24 to 29 — 25
- July 17 to 24 — 20
- July 10 to 17 — 9
- July 6 to 10 — 14
Statewide, coronavirus cases appear to be edging up slightly. The statewide positive test rate stood at 1.9 percent on Tuesday. The rate had been down between 1.7 and 1.8 percent each day since July 7. However, the positive test rate is down about 94 percent since mid-April, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Framingham's pandemic case total reached 1,801 on Wednesday, with 121 total deaths.
