Applications For Seat On Framingham School Committee Due Soon

FRAMINGHAM, MA — The deadline to apply for a vacancy on the Framingham School Committee is coming up on Feb. 5.

The District 2 (northeast Framingham, Saxonville) seat is vacant following the Dec. 24 death of Karen Foran Dempsey. The seat is up for election in 2021, which means the appointment will last until Dec. 31 unless the appointee wins the seat in November.

Any registered voter who lives in District 2 can apply for the seat, which comes with a prorated $5,000 annual stipend. School Department employees are not eligible to apply, and neither are any former School Committee members who served less than a year in the past.

Applications will go to City Clerk Lisa Ferguson, but the replacement will ultimately be picked during a joint meeting of the School Committee and the City Council.
