Ashland Station Closing For Repairs, Improvements This Month

The station is set to receive $2.5 million in repairs and improvements. This means fall service will look different on the Framingham line.

Shuttle buses will provide service between Ashland and Framingham Stations starting Aug. 26. The buses will pick up passengers at each station, with that schedule becoming available in the near future, MBTA officials said.

ASHLAND, MA — A station on the MBTA's Framingham-Worcester Commuter Rail Line is set to receive $2.5 million worth of repairs and improvements this fall.

Ashland Station will close starting Aug. 26 through the fall of 2023, according to MBTA officials. Work will include a complete restoration of the pedestrian overpass, platform resurfacing, the installation of digital signage and more.

This means a change for Framingham's station, too, as shuttle buses will provide service between Ashland and Framingham Stations. The buses will pick up passengers at each station, with that schedule becoming available in the near future, MBTA officials said.

Ashland and state officials agree that this will be a major change for local commuters, but that the adjustment will be worth it once the project is completed.

"I am grateful to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for moving forward with these vital improvements to the Ashland Commuter Rail Station and for my steadfast and successful partnership with Town Manager Michael Herbert, the Ashland Select Board, and Senate President Karen Spilka," said State Representative Jack Patrick Lewis.
