Be the Change Informational Forum, March 12

Ashland, Mass., residents will have an opportunity to learn about the town election process on Tuesday, March 12, 7 to 9 p.m., ahead of the May town elections. The informational forum, “Be the Change: Running for Local Office and Becoming Better Informed Before Casting Your Vote,” will feature experienced office holders speaking about the roles and responsibilities of each open position and answering questions from the public. The forum will be moderated by Ashland High School juniors Irene Katolichenko and Adora Lei and held at the Ashland Library, Schiesske Community Room, 66 Front St. All residents are invited to attend.

The Candidates Forum Committee is offering its first information forum this year because of increased interest by community members in the way Ashland works.

“We want to take advantage of that interest by developing a tangible way to share information about the election process in Ashland,” Diane Ring, a forum committee member, said. “We decided to invite high school students to moderate because their perspective is valuable, and we can provide their generation with more exposure to the way things work, which will enrich all of Ashland.”

As in past years, Ashland residents will also have an opportunity to meet and question the candidates for town offices on Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30, from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ashland Library, Schiesske Community Room.

All three forums will be streamed live and recorded by WACA-TV for viewers at home.
